Friday Rantings

Today it snowed on the NE coast of the North American continent and while it wasn't the Day After Tomorrow, it still caused some problems in the city. Many were delayed to work, closed early or were off entirely. My work opened with a two hour delay, but it was relatively quiet all day. Not too many people around. Some of my coworkers were not as fortunate, stuck in various airports around the country, forced to wait, indefinitely.

After a long week, I look forward to the end of my week and the end of February, as it has become my least favorite month of the year (especially after recent events). One bright spot, Robert the Bruce turns 1 this year.

Things that happened this week :

Is it bad when you can tell the show will suck from the intro? What's with all the cgi?? Just show the car. It's simple, show the car. Nobody cares about the human leads. Just make them blend well into the car, get a not annoying voice actor and show the car. Val Kilmer as the voice of KITT. Oh boy. Makes one want to migrate to Sarah Connor. SAVE ME BSG !!!

Chud reported on a story in Variety : to paraphrase

Universal Pictures has announced a six-year partnership with Hasbro to produce at least four feature films based on branded properties.

The properties include “Monopoly,” “Candy Land,” “Clue,” “Ouija,” “Battleship,” “Magic, The Gathering” and “Stretch Armstrong.”

If you have watched any of Robot Chicken, Season two, there was an episode that parodied just this event. A Hungry, Hungry Hippos the Movie and Chutes & Ladders, a buddy cop picture with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson. And you thought it could get worse than GI Joe the movie or Transformers 2? Is it bad when satire becomes reality?

There is no immunity out there. Even sports trample on us :

I can't wait for the nationalistic scheming conveniently christened the Olympics. Its just months away.

Even the virtual is a conspirator :

Thats right, what every gamer needs. When you get shot in the game you feel it in real life as well. Its almost like getting shot for real. Am I missing something?
